Moon is hiring a Senior Finance and Accounting Specialist who will be responsible for managing the daily finance, accounting, and tax aspects of our studios. You will be part of the Finance team working closely with the Moon Finance Team as well as outside specialists to lead the entire financial aspect, including accounting, tax and treasury of both Moon’s Palo Alto and Tokyo studios
In this position, you will also be able to leverage your experience, skills, and mindset to help us create and launch human-centered businesses. You will work across multiple teams to achieve our ambitious growth agenda. Although you are based in Moon’s Tokyo studio, you will liaise with not only our Japanese vendors, Mitsui colleagues, and Moon project teams but also our contacts based in the US and other countries.
Leading Moon’s finance, accounting & tax function
You will lead Moon’s financial planning, accounting, treasury, tax and financial KPI reporting, as part of the Moon Finance Team. You will be responsible for the overall budget planning, financial analysis and reporting, treasury of both Moon Palo Alto and Tokyo studio, as well as ensuring that the company’s finance, accounting, tax and auditing procedures comply with all government and GAAP requirements. You will also work with the team to bookkeep daily transactions, manage expense reports, initiate payments to vendors managing the cash flow and prepare financial reporting for the company.
Consolidation reporting
You will work together with the Moon Finance Team to consolidate the financial reports of the two studios. Moon is a US corporation, so this will include converting the financial reports of the Tokyo studio from J-GAAP basis to US GAAP and consolidating it with the PA studio report. You will also be responsible for reporting the consolidated reports to Mitsui in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant departments within Mitsui.
Developing & supporting ventures from financial/accounting standpoint
You will develop and support ventures established through Moon from an accounting and financial standpoint. You will be able to leverage your business and financial expertise to inspire others, provide guidance, and grow a high-performing team. You will act as a thought partner to the idea owners and guide them through budget planning, cash flow management, accounting process set up, capital structure planning and other necessary financial and accounting procedures to make our ventures successful.
