Green Transformation (GX) is now considered essential for the growth and competitiveness of companies and countries. In this online talk series, Mr. Toyoda, CEO of Digital Grid, and Mr. Yamasaki, CEO of e-dash, will join us in a dialogue on Entrepreneur vs. Intrapreneur: The Future of GX. Coming from very different backgrounds, these startup leaders will discuss how they came to focus on the area of decarbonization x technology and address other factors of business including:

  • the different strategies and stakeholder relations as an entrepreneur and an intrapreneur
  • the role of the CEO
  • how to grow an organization
  • their expectations for the future of GX

Digital Grid is a startup company from the University of Tokyo that provides a platform for optimal electricity trading with the mission of freeing people from energy constraints.

e-dash, a new business within the Mitsui & Co. group, is working to accelerate the decarbonization of Japan.

Moon Creative Lab, a human-centered venture studio that powers the creation of new businesses, holds regular events called “Moon Talk!” These discussions provide insightful and valuable information for entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and others interested in startups and innovation. With a different topic for each event, attendees will hear industry leaders and experts discuss subjects such as business strategies, the latest in corporate innovation, stories of startup founders, and deep dives into design and technology.

Yusuke Toyoda, Digital Grid CEO
After graduating from the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, Mr. Toyoda joined Goldman Sachs, working in origination and sales of financial products related to foreign exchange and credit, and development and investment operations of mega solar power plants. He also worked for PE fund Integral, and joined Digital Grid in 2018 as a founding member, a position he has held since July 2019.

Toma Yamasaki, e-dash CEO
Mr. Yamasaki was in charge of new deal development and M&A mainly in the infrastructure business, such as electric power at Mitsui & Co. He was stationed in the United States’ Silicon Valley in 2015, where he was in charge of venture investment and business development in the clean tech field, including energy and mobility, and became a director of several startup companies. After returning to Japan, he planned and developed the e-dash business and established e-dash, Inc. in 2022, become CEO of the company.

After working as an LNG plant engineer in Australia and launching a new After working as an LNG plant engineer in Australia and launching a new business in the digital domain at NEC, Masahiro is currently engaged in supporting venture creation in the sustainability field as the Business Innovation Lead at Moon Creative Lab. He is a graduate of the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Social Infrastructure, and Aalto University's Department of International Design Management.
